Kinetic Arts Studio specializes in creating unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry. I primarily work with sheet copper: cutting, hammering, shaping and stamping or etching each individual piece by hand.
Then I carefully choose and layer on the enamels. I work mostly with transparent enamels, as these allow the copper below to shine through, giving each piece an extra brilliance as they reflect the light, in a shimmery, almost iridescent, effect.
Each layer of enamel is added individually as a light dusting of powdered glass, which is then fired to over 1400 degrees fahrenheit. And each piece receives a minimum of 3 layers of enamel – including at least one to two layers on the back. Some have as many as 10 layers, depending upon the effect I am trying to achieve.
